Going green & clean – recycling properly
Our inner green thumbs have sprouted on the Pen this year with the Council focusing on clean recycling and bringing in kitchen compost buckets – we encourage you use these if provided in your holiday rental. Please ensure you use the right types of compost bag liners too. If the property doesn’t have one, you can use another biodegradable receptacle and take to the garden waste bin. They are emptied directly in the green lid waste bins. Check your bin collection day for the next pick up. These are in each property for your convenience but also on the Shire website “Find your bin day – Mornington Peninsula Shire”.
Clean Recycling is a massive way to help our struggling waste management facilities. To ensure they are not contaminated – we need your help. Please ensure only items marked with the recycle symbol ♻️♻️♻️ are in the Blue lid recycling bins. Please flatten your boxes to allow more to fit in the bin. It is really amazing how much can fit when compacted. Please and Thank you!
- It is really important to not dispose of takeaway coffee cups (Yes that is right – very few are 100% recyclable and are the worst offender in the recycling bins, which prevent them being collected).
- Bins are inspected by the Council and if you have not disposed of Recycle only items correctly, they will not collect your bin and this will be a bond penalty on the security deposit.
